* Dear parents/guardians, There was a problem with my computer when I arrived at school on Monday morning, whereby everything had been wiped from my computer. All my files had gone, including the ones with the vocab tests that I create every week. I didn't even have my user account. 2nd monthly written test

Today's Homework:

Speech writing.

Two students did not follow the directions in some parts of the test which greatly affected their score. They will be given the opportunity to re-test tomorrow. However, their original score will be the one entered on file. I have always been strict about this, as it is extremely important that they demonstrate the ability to follow directions in tests. They must learn this now, so that in the future, at high school, college or university, they will follow directions carefully and habitually.

I do not do this to be mean to the students. In fact I was saddened when I saw the error they had made. I do this to prepare them for future tests, whether it be high school, college, university or even their career.

There was a mistake in yesterday's written test when it came back from the printers, so it was difficult for the students. There will be a short test for teacher Sherry's and my class this morning which will give them a chance to boost their scores.

*Some students did not read the instructions on the listening test carefully and as a result, answered all questions incorrectly.

I have given them a chance as this was their first monthly test with me.

However, I have warned them that they will lose points (possibly getting a zero score) if they repeat such carelessness in any future tests.

Today the students used an empty shoe box and rubber bands to make an instrument.   This included making a bridge to change the pitch of each string (rubber band).

Writing Class   'A Taiwan Experience' Students wrote a paragraph in sequence. The main idea was that an exchange student from Germany came to stay with them. They had to write about things in Taiwan that they would share with the exchange student. Food, games, holidays and events.

  Welcome to Grade 6! I am Mr. Rowland, and I will be teaching class 604 this year. I am from London, England and have been teaching in Taiwan for almost 15 years. 

  We will be having our PTA in a few weeks, therefore I shall leave the introductions until then. I look forward to meeting you all on that day, and to teaching the students of 604.

Watch & discuss the movie 'The Blind Side'. 

This film is about a homeless black teen, who has drifted in and out of the school 

system for years. Then Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) and her husband, 

Sean (Tim McGraw), take him in. The Tuohys eventually become Michael's legal 

guardians, transforming both his life and theirs.

Earth:A History - As we are going to Taipei Museum of Astronomy on Wednesday, I thought I would show them this video explaining how our planet was formed, and how after many changes, life began to form. It is a very interesting video by National Geographic, and I can tell that many of the students were most curious in the content.
